The Assistant Customer Experience Manager is responsible for promoting excellent customer relations by instilling positive customer-focused behavior with associates. This role involves greeting customers, answering questions, and resolving concerns promptly and professionally. The Assistant Customer Experience Manager focuses on continuous improvement in all areas of the department and assists the Customer Experience Manager in overseeing front-end operations. In the absence of store management, this role may assume complete responsibility for total store operations. Key responsibilities include enforcing cash handling and security measures, adhering to company policies and state laws (including Anti-Money Laundering Compliance, tobacco and alcohol sales, lottery, price accuracy, WIC), and overseeing bookkeeping procedures. The role also involves assisting Customer Experience Associates with various tasks, conducting cashier audits, onboarding new associates, training for efficient checkout experiences, implementing new programs, recognizing and rewarding associate performance, and participating in annual performance reviews. The Assistant Customer Experience Manager utilizes the Learning Management System (LMS) and auto-scheduler system to manage associate schedules and labor goals. They also control supply costs, direct customer flow at the front end, monitor breaks and lunches, oversee lot attendant services, operate scanning equipment and registers, handle customer service calls, use the intercom, maintain equipment functionality, communicate promotions, engage in suggestive selling, attend daily huddles, and maintain knowledge of weekly ads and promotions. Safety and sanitation of the parking lot, entrance/exit, and checkout area are also overseen, along with general department sanitation and adherence to cleaning schedules and health/OSHA requirements. Cooperation with co-workers and superiors is essential for smooth department and store function, with a focus on continuous job performance improvement. The role may also involve assisting with baling cardboard, receiving and storing deliveries (with proper training), and utilizing company-provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Assistance in other departments may also be required.
