About The Position

Jordan Valley Water Conservancy District seeks individuals to assist at Conservation Garden Park with plant curation and conservation education. This is a great opportunity for those interested in horticulture, landscaping, and environmental science. The role involves assisting with maintaining the plant collection and database, developing educational programs for youth and adults, and supporting content creation for social media and garden events. This position can be used as an internship based upon college/university approval.

Requirements

• Two years of college-level classes in horticulture, environmental science, education, or an equivalent degree preferred.
• Must have a general knowledge of horticulture, botanical nomenclature, and plant curation.
• Must be comfortable interacting with the public
• Organized, detail-oriented, and willing to learn.
• Understanding the basics of photography and videography is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assisting the Senior Horticulturist in maintaining the plant collection and database (descriptions, inventory, tags, photos)
• Providing educational program development for youth and adults: tours, curriculum, etc.
• Supporting the Digital Content Coordinator in creating educational content for social media
• Assisting the Outreach Coordinator with educational programing for garden events
