About The Position

Classical Charter School is seeking a High School and Middle School Assistant Cross Country Coach. This role requires availability on Mondays through Saturdays, primarily in the late afternoons and evenings during the sport season (August - November). The ideal candidate will embody high character and professionalism, representing the school community with integrity. This position collaborates directly with and reports to the Head High School Cross Country Coach and serves at the discretion of the Athletic Director. The coach will assist with planning, preparation, and coaching of middle and high school student-athletes, demonstrating expert knowledge in the physical and mental training of endurance athletes and integration of sport strategies. Responsibilities include assisting in program vision, developing the middle school program, effective communication, understanding sport rules and strategies, overseeing safety, and attending required meetings and training.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Previous high school or middle school cross country or track coaching experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of individuals.
  • Commitment to fostering a positive and all-encompassing team environment.
  • Complete all required coaching training prior to the start of each sport season.
  • Loyalty to the mission and vision of the school and ACACS.
  • Commitment to model moral character in line with the school's core virtues.
  • Adherence to all ACACS policies, including but not limited to the Athletic Handbook, Employee Handbook, Family Handbook, and all applicable school and board policies.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States.
  • Satisfactory background check is required by state law and Colorado Department of Education.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Must be able to traverse the sports complex, field, or court.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with the planning, preparation, and coaching of all middle and high school student-athletes.
  • Demonstrating expert knowledge in the physical and mental training of endurance athletes along with the integration of sport strategies.
  • Assisting in the formation and approaches of the program vision process.
  • Assisting with the development of the middle school cross country program.
  • Effectively communicating well both verbally and in writing with all activities staff, parents, students, other staff members, and visitors.
  • Thoroughly understanding the rules, principles, and competitive strategies of the sport.
  • Efficaciously overseeing the safety of all team personnel through proper planning and management of organizational policies.
  • Being present at all in-season and out-of-season practices and at all games.
  • Attending all CHSAA and league meetings as requested.
  • Assisting with set up and take down of equipment for practices and games.
  • Completing all required training and providing documentation as well as official college transcripts within 90 days of hire date.
  • Demonstrating consistent and reliable attendance by adhering to assigned work hours, reporting on time, and following proper procedures for absences or tardiness.
  • Demonstrating proficiency in both written and spoken English.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
