About The Position

The purpose of this classification is to perform professional legal work, to include conducting legal research, handling litigation, preparing documents required for litigation purposes, and assisting in providing legal advice/counsel. The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned. Responsible for performing professional legal work for the Glynn County Attorney’s Office. Conducting legal research and preparing legal opinions. Providing legal advice and counsel regarding applicable federal, state, and local laws; preparing, reviewing, and amending contracts and other legal documents. Preparing and amending ordinances, policies, and resolutions; handling litigation and preparing required documents. Providing legal counsel on property issues and transactions. Attending various meetings and making presentations as needed. Communicating with county attorney, employees, county officials, state/federal agencies, members of the public, and others as needed to resolve and address issues. Performing such other duties as may be assigned by the County Attorney.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctorate required
  • 5 months previous experience and/or training involving local government law
  • Possess and maintain membership in good standing of the State Bar of Georgia
  • Possess and maintain membership in good standing of the Southern District of Georgia Court
  • Possess and maintain membership in good standing of the Georgia Superior Courts

Responsibilities
