About The Position

The Carver County Attorney's Office is seeking an Assistant County Attorney or Senior Assistant County Attorney for its Civil Division. This role involves providing legal services and representation to the County, State, or local municipalities in various civil matters. The position will offer legal advice and training to county divisions, employees, and officials, conduct legal research, evaluate and prepare cases for legal proceedings (including motions, hearings, trials, and appeals), and draft legal documents. This role is crucial for supporting the Public Works Division and the Parks Department to ensure project progression. The position offers partial remote work eligibility after completing necessary training.

Requirements

Juris Doctoral degree in law from an accredited law school
A valid Minnesota Driver's License or evidence of mobility
A valid license to practice law in the State of MN
Must be able to successfully pass Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) background check, including CJIS fingerprinting.
Five (5) years of experience as an Assistant County Attorney or equivalent experience as a practicing attorney (for Senior Assistant County Attorney classification)

Responsibilities

Providing legal services and representing the County, State or local municipalities in a wide variety of civil matters.
Providing legal advice and training to county divisions/employees/officials.
Conducting legal research.
Evaluating, preparing, and presenting cases in legal proceedings including motions, hearings, trials and appeals.
Preparing and drafting legal documents.
Providing essential support to the Public Works Division and the Parks Department, allowing planned projects to progress on schedule.
