About The Position

Allegion is seeking a highly skilled and proactive Assistant Corporate Counsel licensed to practice in Indiana (or able to obtain reciprocity) to support its rapidly growing business. Reporting to the Deputy General Counsel, this role will partner cross-functionally with a wide variety of professionals and internal legal experts to provide commercial legal guidance that advances the company’s strategic objectives in the Americas region. The Assistant Corporate Counsel will draft, negotiate and manage a broad range of contracts, lead a group of contract professionals, and help build scalable legal processes and procedures. Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States, as the company does not intend to provide sponsorship for employment visa status. Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to practice law in Indiana (or ability to obtain reciprocity).
  • Minimum of 10-12 years of experience in a law firm or in-house (manufacturing, industrial products or consumer products company is preferred).
  • Strong track record drafting, negotiating and managing a variety of commercial contracts and strategic collaborations.
  • In depth experience with supply, sales, distribution, service, installation, consulting, confidentiality, SaaS, real estate, warranty and indemnity.
  • Demonstrated ability to counsel business clients, build trust, and drive results in a fast-paced environment with a positive, adaptable and “can-do” attitude.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving skills with the ability to balance legal risk management with pragmatic business solutions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across departments and various levels of leadership.
  • Strategic, proactive mindset with the ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Legally authorized to be employed in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, negotiate, and manage the full lifecycle of commercial contracts, including supply, sales, distribution, service, installation, consulting, confidentiality, SaaS, and real estate agreements.
  • Drive global standardization of intake, review and execution processes to ensure consistent, efficient contracting practices.
  • Identify, design and implement process improvements across contracting lifecycle (intake, triage, review, negotiation, execution, and repository management) to reduce cycle times and improve quality.
  • Assist with business strategy development from a legal perspective including maintaining and updating contract templates, playbooks and contracting processes to align with business strategies.
  • Stay current on industry trends and legal developments and advise the business on emerging risks and opportunities.
  • Partner with Legal Operations to implement and optimize CLM platform, standardize contracting workflows, and operationalize contracting initiatives; maintain and report contract metrics in the CLM platform, develop dashboards that surface KPI’s (e.g., cycle times, volume by business unit and contract type), and translate metrics into actionable insights for leadership and resource planning.
