About The Position

This role involves assisting the Cook in various stages of the food production process, including ingredient preparation, cooking, and cleaning. The Assistant Cook will follow recipes, ensure equipment is ready, monitor cooking processes, and maintain a clean and safe work environment. This position also requires communication with other departments and the ability to step in for the Cook when necessary. Responsibilities extend to cleaning production equipment, lines, and packaging machinery, and working with cleaning chemicals and hot water.

Responsibilities

  • Follow recipes to identify necessary equipment.
  • Complete top setup and inform the controller before cooking begins.
  • Ensure the hose from the liquefier is closed and inspect the kettle.
  • Verify the scale is at zero and compare the weight on the scale to the recipe.
  • Add remaining ingredients after the target temperature is reached.
  • Check the final weight.
  • Assist the Cook as needed.
  • Inspect all ingredients before loading them into the kettles.
  • Be able to step in if the Cook is unavailable.
  • Communicate with batching and quality control departments.
  • Assist in maintaining cleanliness on the platform.
  • Clean equipment necessary for overall manufacturing production.
  • Clean lines and processing equipment.
  • Clean packaging equipment, including wiping down metal conveyors and the machine itself.
  • Open valves as required to perform duties.
  • Work with strong, corrosive chemicals.
  • Work with hot water and cleaning agents.
  • Sweep and mop floors.
  • Perform CIP (Clean-In-Place) after production and ensure all equipment is clean and ready for the next shift.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
