About The Position

The Assistant Controller plays a key role in overseeing the company’s daily accounting operations, including billing, collections, and accounts payable. This position leads month‑end and year‑end close processes across multiple divisions, ensures accurate financial reporting, supports treasury activities, and partners with teams across the organization. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, analytical, and experienced in corporate or public accounting environments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
  • 5–7 years of experience in public accounting, corporate accounting, or a combination of both.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, financial modeling).
  • Experience with ERP systems and financial planning/reporting tools.
  • High degree of accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA strongly preferred.
  • Experience in manufacturing and/or distribution environments.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate month-end and year-end close activities for multiple divisions.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts and consolidate financials across multiple entities.
  • Prepare accurate internal and external financial statements.
  • Assist with annual audit preparation and support auditors during fieldwork.
  • Supervise accounting staff responsible for billing, collections, and accounts payable.
  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness of daily accounting transactions.
  • Participate in year-end physical inventory counts.
  • Oversee treasury-related activities and ensure proper recording of all cash transactions.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning initiatives.
  • Stay informed on new accounting standards and ensure adherence to US GAAP.
  • Build deep knowledge of key accounting processes (billing, collections, cash application, AP, credit analysis, customer setup).
  • Serve as a reliable resource for internal teams, customers, and vendors.
  • Support various surveys, audits, and compliance requirements (401k audit, sales & use tax audits, Census Bureau surveys, etc.).
  • Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.
