About The Position

The Assistant Controller will play a critical role in supporting financial reporting, budgeting, auditing, and operational finance processes across multiple divisions and locations. This role requires a proactive individual with strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate financial risks and opportunities effectively to senior management.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and GAAP reporting.
  • Technology familiarity and fluency.
  • 5-7 years of managerial accounting/finance experience, preferably in distribution or multi-location settings.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems and advanced Excel capabilities.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA preferred but not required.
  • Open to experience from any industry, with a preference for AEC industry experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes across multiple divisions and locations.
  • Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement components.
  • Support the preparation of management reports.
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual budgeting process and ongoing forecasting cycles.
  • Support detailed variance analyses and provide strategic recommendations.
  • Communicate risks and opportunities to senior management.
  • Support external audits and respond to audit requests.
  • Assist with internal control maintenance and policy updates.
  • Support audit readiness in a private-equity-backed environment, including lender reporting and covenant compliance support.
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of scalable internal controls and financial policies.
  • Support inventory management, job costing, and ad hoc analysis in support of the sales team and project managers.
  • Assist in the AR and AP processes and help manage the cash flow of the business.
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization, automation, and system improvements.
  • Contribute to system upgrades and automation consistent with the mandates of private equity sponsors.
  • Partner with leadership to improve financial visibility, discipline, and accountability across a growing multi-location business.
  • Support initiatives driven by private equity ownership, including system enhancements, reporting standardization, and margin improvement efforts.
