Mr. Greens ProduceMyricks Trailer Park, FL

About The Position

Mr. Greens Produce is looking for a talented Assistant Controller to join our dynamic team in Miami! Mr. Greens has proudly grown into one of the largest privately-owned produce distributors in Florida, Georgia, and Texas. With deliveries 365 days a year, 7 days a week, and multiple runs per day, Mr. Greens has set the gold standard for service. Mr. Greens serves a large variety of clients, including restaurants, hotels, country clubs, caterers, grocery stores, and retail outlets. The Assistant Controller is a role created to own the day-to-day operations of the close cycle, freeing the Director of Financial Reporting to focus on compliance, governance, and strategic cost control. You'll manage the close process end-to-end, lead a team of Staff Accountants and AP Specialists, and play a central role in our ERP implementation — including UAT and the migration to a fully automated, documented close. This is a high-impact role at a pivotal moment. The infrastructure you build over the next 18 months will serve a business that is actively acquiring, opening new distribution centers, and expanding nationally.

Requirements

  • 3-5+ years in accounting or controllership, with at least 2 years in a close-ownership or supervisory role
  • Experience managing a monthly close across multiple entities or locations
  • Prior ERP implementation experience — NetSuite strongly preferred; UAT or data migration ownership is a strong plus
  • Background in multi-location or multi-entity environments; food service, distribution, or private equity-backed companies a plus

Responsibilities

  • Financial close operations Lead the monthly close cycle across all 7 locations owing the close checklist, journal entry templates, and sign-off cadence
  • Drive our close cycle reduction initiative targeting a 10-day improvement before ERP go-live
  • Build and maintain close process documentation that doubles as the ERP configuration spec
  • Automate bank reconciliations and implement a digital close checklist with clear ownership at each step
  • Team management Day-to-day management of Staff Accountants (×2) and AP Specialists (×5)
  • Review journal entries and reconciliations; maintain accuracy and accountability across the team
  • Develop the team's capacity as the business scales across new locations and acquired entities
  • ERP implementation Partner with the Director of Financial Reporting on NetSuite configuration requirements
  • Own UAT for the close and AP modules — sign off on data migration accuracy before cut-over
  • Execute the parallel run (one full close cycle in both systems) and confirm zero reporting gap at go-live
  • AP and spend controls Support the Director of Financial Reporting in embedding the spend authority matrix into the AP approval workflow
  • Ensure AP payment runs are reconciled, consolidated, compliant, and documented — weekly scheduled batches across all locations
  • Monitor compliance with the spend matrix; flag exceptions for CFO reporting
  • M&A integration support Execute the day-one finance controls checklist for acquired entities — bank access, payroll continuity, AP/AR reporting lines, chart of accounts alignment
  • Produce the first weekly finance report from acquired entities within week one post-close
  • Bring acquired entities onto the spend matrix and reporting cadence within month one
