About The Position

Epic Health is a rapidly growing company undergoing National expansion, and we are looking for an experienced Assistant Controller to support our financial operations. This role is perfect for a hands-on accounting professional with a strong background in small business finance, who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is eager to implement best practices as we scale. The Assistant Controller will play a key role in managing and improving the company’s financial processes, overseeing general ledger accounting, multi-state payroll, accounts payable (AP), budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis. This role will also focus on the development and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to drive efficiency and accuracy within the finance department.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of hands-on accounting experience in a small business or growth-stage company.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and multi-entity accounting.
  • Experience with multi-state payroll, AP, AR, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (Preferably Acumatica).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a process improvement mindset.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including: Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, Power Query, Financial Modeling.
  • Background checks are required for this role.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the general ledgers for multiple entities, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with GAAP.
  • Oversee month-end and year-end close processes, including account reconciliations.
  • Maintain financial controls, ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
  • Oversee multi-state payroll processing, ensuring compliance with tax laws and labor regulations.
  • Review/Manage payroll tax filings and collaborate with HR on employee benefits accounting.
  • Ensure payroll accuracy and proper record-keeping.
  • Coordinate AP functions, ensuring timely invoice processing and collections.
  • Develop and implement policies to improve cash flow management.
  • Maintain strong vendor relationships to optimize financial operations.
  • Assist in the development of annual budgets, forecasts, and financial models.
  • Monitor financial performance, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Provide data-driven insights to support business growth and decision-making.
  • Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to improve financial processes and internal controls.
  • Identify inefficiencies and recommend best practices to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Ensure finance-related policies are documented, updated, and communicated effectively.
