About The Position

The Assistant Controller will play a hands-on role in overseeing daily accounting operations, with a strong focus on accounts payable, parts and service accounting, inventory controls, and month-end close support. This position partners closely with the Controller and works cross-functionally with dealership operations, parts managers, service managers, and corporate leadership.

Requirements

  • Automotive or RV dealership accounting experience (required)
  • Strong accounts payable experience in a high-volume environment
  • Hands-on experience with parts and service accounting
  • Inventory accounting experience (vehicle and/or parts inventory)
  • Solid understanding of general ledger accounting and month-end close
  • Experience working in dealership accounting systems (CDK, Dealertrack, Reynolds, or similar)
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities

  • Prior Assistant Controller or Accounting Manager experience
  • Multi-location dealership experience
  • Experience supporting audits or external reporting
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Experience working in a growing or fast-paced organization

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and review high-volume AP processing across multiple dealerships
  • Ensure proper coding and allocation of expenses to departments, stores, and GL accounts
  • Maintain strong internal controls over invoice processing, approvals, and payments
  • Support process improvements and efficiency initiatives within AP workflows
  • Support accounting for parts and service operations, including: Parts purchases, returns, and reconciliation Service repair orders, labor, sublet, and warranty transactions
  • Partner with operations to resolve posting discrepancies and ensure accurate financial reporting
  • Understand and support parts and service gross profit reporting
  • Assist with inventory accounting for RV units, parts, and related inventory categories
  • Support inventory reconciliations, aging analysis, and variance investigation
  • Ensure inventory transactions are properly recorded and aligned with dealership systems
  • Assist with floorplan, inventory adjustments, and related journal entries
  • Support the monthly close process, including account reconciliations and journal entries
  • Assist with balance sheet account reviews and control schedules
  • Help prepare internal financial reports and schedules for management
  • Support audit requests and documentation as needed
  • Work within dealership accounting systems (e.g., CDK, Dealertrack, Reynolds, or similar)
  • Partner with the Controller on process documentation, standardization, and internal controls
  • Identify opportunities to improve accuracy, timeliness, and scalability of accounting processes
