About The Position

Probst Electric is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Assistant Controller to join their dynamic finance team. This role reports directly to the Shared Services Controller and supports several operating units in the West Region of Quanta Services, Inc. As a fully owned subsidiary of Quanta Services, Probst Electric is a premier utility construction company providing energy infrastructure solutions, operating from offices in Utah and Idaho and performing work on projects all over the United States. The company specializes in new-build, design-build, and maintenance services for both public and private sector utilities. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire others
  • Proficiency in financial accounting software and Microsoft Office
  • Experience with general ledger, monthly close cycle, account reconciliations, financial statements, accounts payable, and payroll
  • In-depth knowledge of accounting principles and practices, including GAAP and financial reporting requirements
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and accuracy
  • Experience implementing and maintaining internal controls and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements

Nice To Haves

  • CPA or equivalent certification
  • Experience with JDE
  • Construction and/or job cost accounting experience

Responsibilities

  • Manage accounting processes with appropriate internal control safeguards.
  • Prioritize workload and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to the accounting team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
  • Implement process improvements and maintain internal control procedures.
  • Maintain trial balance, prepare, journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Foster cross-functional collaboration with other departments to achieve shared goals.
  • Develop and maintain financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance with internal guidelines and industry best practices.
  • Ensure accurate and timely sales tax and other filing requirements.
  • Support internal and external auditors by preparing schedules, providing supporting documentation, and addressing inquiries.
