About The Position

Act-On Software, an award-winning SaaS company specializing in marketing automation software, has an immediate opening for an Assistant Controller. We are currently seeking an experienced technical leader to join our established team. Your responsibilities will include month-end close, annual audits, stock compensation plans, and oversight of staff responsible for AR, AP, Payroll, and General Ledger Accounting. This position will report to the VP, Finance & Accounting. This position will be filled by the candidate who is a collaborative team player looking to make their mark on our company while continuing to learn and advance their career in a fast paced, high growth environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • 7+ years of relevant, hands-on accounting experience, including experience managing people
  • Experience with NetSuite or similar accounting software preferred, including experience in multi-entity, multi-currency consolidations
  • Experience with ERP system conversions
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to changing workloads
  • A strong work ethic, attention to detail, and demonstrated knowledge of technical and operations accounting
  • A ‘roll-up-your-sleeves’ mentality with a proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • The drive to enforce continuous improvement and learn from past mistakes

Responsibilities

  • Directly supervise and mentor staff responsible for AP, AR, Payroll and General Ledger functions.
  • Lead month end close procedures - review and post journal entries, review balance sheet account reconciliations monthly.
  • Prepare and distribute monthly financial statements and flux analysis.
  • Research and draft technical accounting memos and corporate policies to ensure compliance with evolving U.S. GAAP.
  • Lead financial audits, including annual consolidated financial audit, drafting financial statements and footnotes, UK statutory audit.
  • Administer stock compensation plan including processing grants, exercises and cancellations, maintaining equity administration tool, preparing equity related communication, calculating quarterly stock compensation expense and preparing annual audit requests and reporting disclosures.
  • Become proficient with software systems including Salesforce and Astrella.
  • Serve as the primary System Administrator and Subject Matter Expert for NetSuite or new ERP, ensuring data integrity and optimizing system workflows.
  • Lead cash flow forecasting and liquidity management.
  • Oversee state and local tax compliance and coordinate with external tax preparers on annual federal filings.
  • Manage sales tax compliance.
  • Maintain and improve internal controls to ensure accuracy and prevent fraud.
  • Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
  • Work with key personnel across multiple business functions to provide insight into accounting processes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
