Job Overview Title: Assistant Controller Location: Buena Park, California Type: Full-Time Onsite Salary Range: $145,000 - $165,000 (based on experience) Job Summary The Assistant Controller will work with a team in the development and sustainment of accurate, consistent, relevant and timely business information to support strategic planning, decision support, public information and engagement. This candidate applies Accounting principles and ensures the integrity of accounting and Tax information by overseeing the recording, verification and consolidation of financial transactions; ensure and reconciles the Fixed Assets of the company and depreciation. Additionally, the Assistant Controller will act as a change agent, assisting the Vice President of Finance in driving process improvements and leveraging modern technologies to optimize financial operations. Beyond core accounting functions, the Assistant Controller will provide guidance to support strategic planning and data-driven decision-making.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business is required.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in finance roles, with significant exposure to the manufacturing or aerospace sectors.
  • Expertise in GAAP and technical accounting.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform detailed variance analysis (budget-to-actual, year-over-year).
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Eligible for any required authorization from the U.S. Government for Export Control Regulations.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency with OneStream, Infor Syteline or Spreadsheet Server a plus.
  • Familiarity with LeaseQuerry a plus.
  • Experience with FAR/DFAR a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the monthly, quarterly and annual closing process in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Assures completeness, accuracy and consistency of all financial records. Review journal entries and create supporting documentation as necessary.
  • Review balance sheet account reconciliations to confirm ending balances are properly stated.
  • Prepare and review Revenue Recognition journal entries in accordance with ASC 606.
  • Prepare Monthly and Annual sales and Washington B&O tax computations and returns.
  • Ensure that transactions comply with financial policies and procedures.
  • Prepare and review audit requests, gather support and answer questions as required for various external and internal audits.
  • Responsible for vendor transfer payments and Account/bank reconciliations.
  • Assist in documenting new processes and procedures.
  • Ensures conformance to Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) regulations.
  • Other miscellaneous accounting projects and ad hoc reports assigned.
  • Support the Business Unit Managers with high-level presentations and performance analytics.
  • Assist and lead the Annual Plan Process.
  • Supervises Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and Cost Accounting staff.
