The Assistant Control Operator will be thoroughly familiar with the mechanical and electrical operation of turbo-generators and steam generators with their auxiliaries and other plant accessories, as well as all control equipment governing their operation. This includes familiarity with the operation and control of all plant and substation electrical equipment. The role involves observing instruments and controls of one unit, including steam generators, auxiliaries, turbine auxiliaries, and main generators. Under the direct supervision of the Control Operator, the Assistant Control Operator will operate all equipment of one unit. Responsibilities also include operating soot blowing and dust collecting equipment, reading and following daily operating orders and instructions, performing inspections or investigating trouble sources as directed, and taking and recording readings as required. Other comparable duties may be assigned by the Control Room Operator or Shift Supervisor.
