About The Position

Carmel Partners, one of the nation’s highest-performing private equity real estate investment firms specializing in the investment, development, and construction of world-class multi-family projects, is seeking an Assistant Superintendent, Multi-Family Construction (Finishes). This role involves assisting with overall on-site field administration, supervision, and technical management of all construction operations, including the direct supervision of laborers, construction technicians, subcontractors, and other construction personnel. The position will work on the Bundy project in Los Angeles, CA, which consists of three adjacent residential podium buildings constructed concurrently, totaling 621 units over 2 levels of below-grade parking each.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • 4+ years’ experience in Construction, Civil Engineering or related field.
  • 2+ years field experience in ground-up Residential Construction in an Assistant Superintendent or Field Engineer role.
  • Working knowledge of construction and project management software.
  • Possession of a minimum OSHA 30-hour certification obtained in the past three years and current First Aid and CPR training, reviewed promptly as needed to maintain current status.
  • Availability to work adjusted hours and weekends as required.

Nice To Haves

  • Multifamily or hotel construction experience.
  • Experience with Interior Construction, Finish Trades, and Punch List.
  • Experience working in the City of Los Angeles.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for scheduling subcontractors, vendors, and inspections in order to meet the project schedule milestones.
  • Follow established guidelines and procedures to increase communication and overall efficiencies to ensure project delivery dates.
  • Participate in the planning process for assigned building and trades and manage certain aspects such as developing and managing punch lists and look-ahead schedules.
  • Monitor construction progress and provide weekly progress updates: interact with trades, create delivery and installation timelines, and proactively address concerns with the manager to ensure project budget and timelines.
  • Be responsible for the Jobsite Safety. This includes weekly safety reports, monitoring subcontractor, and compliance with all Cal OSHA and local safety regulations.
  • Perform onsite inspections to ensure standards are met, and construction adheres to plans and specifications, manage 3rd party inspections and respond as needed, review Quality Control daily.
  • Conduct and document a minimum of one safety inspection per week.
  • Other duties, responsibilities, and special projects as assigned.
