About The Position

The Assistant Project Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of the project lifecycle for a variety of construction initiatives for the RaceTrac and RaceWay brands. This individual leads cross-functional teams to produce high quality and cost effective construction solutions for the organization. The Assistant Project Manager provides support to Operations, Maintenance, and other departments within RaceTrac to produce quality projects on-time, and within budget. Up to 60% travel may be required.

Requirements

  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced ever changing environment.
  • Possesses an understanding of how to read construction drawings including civil and structural.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Construction, Engineering, or related field or comparable experience
  • 1-3 years’ experience in Construction Management or related field
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite, specifically Excel

Responsibilities

  • Develops and leads all lifecycle functions of Construction initiatives including, but not limited to: scope development, project goals, stakeholder meetings, estimating, scheduling, budgets, communication, on-site project management, and close-out.
  • Develops and writes a clear scope of work for potential contractors.
  • Evaluates competitive bids and selects the contractor offering the best product/service while driving overall cost savings for the company.
  • Establishes and fosters relationships with regional stakeholders, internal departments, and contractors.
  • Gains knowledge of the overall permitting processes and construction legalities from team members.
  • Prepares weekly reports and project status updates for project stakeholders
  • Promotes and ensures safety with contractors and vendors on all projects.
  • Maintains an owner’s representative mentality in development and execution of projects.
  • May lead or assist on large scale initiatives and roll-outs as needed.
  • Conduct pre-bid meetings and perform take-offs to validate bids.
  • Ensures quality control of projects by traveling to job sites for inspections and close-out walks.
