About The Position

Van Metre is seeking a skilled Assistant Construction Manager (Field Assistant) to support our Home Finish & Quality Assurance department with Van Metre Homes. As the Assistant Construction Manager (Fied Assistant), you will bridge field learning and independent execution by managing key jobsite responsibilities with increasing ownership, preparing for full field leadership through applied experience and mentorship.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or related field (or equivalent experience/training)
Strong work ethic and willingness to learn through hands-on work
Clear communicator with an organized, observant, and proactive approach
Interest in quality building systems and Lean construction practices
Tech-savvy and comfortable using mobile apps and digital workflows
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required

Responsibilities

Take ownership of assigned jobsite responsibilities with increasing independence and accountability
Execute daily jobsite operations by coordinating trade activity and updating schedules
Manage trade coordination for assigned activities to ensure build quality and accountability
Monitor and uphold safety, cleanliness, and environmental standards on-site
Participate in municipal and internal inspections to build knowledge of compliance and QA
Engage regularly with Field Managers and peers to review plans, troubleshoot issues, and improve execution
Demonstrate professional curiosity, initiative, and accountability in daily responsibilities
Model a continuous improvement mindset by applying Lean practices in the field
