About The Position

As part of a diverse community of faculty and staff who represent many faith systems and worldviews, Marian University is seeking a highly energetic, and ambitious professional to serve as a part-time Assistant Competitive Cheerleading Coach. Reporting to the Head Cheerleading Coach, the assistant coach will embark upon providing leadership, management, and strategic planning for the cheerleading program.

Requirements

  • Must possess a Bachelor’s degree
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
  • Must have experience in hiring, supervising, and training support staff and developing schedules to assure all work and work areas are covered
  • Must display excellent customer and staff relation skills
  • Must possess strong organization skills
  • Must possess Stunt, CPR, AED, and First Aid Certifications

Nice To Haves

  • 3-5 years coaching experience preferred
  • CDC Concussion Standards certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Support the academic success of all student-athletes and demonstrate a strong commitment to their personal and professional development
  • Assist in the planning, management, evaluation, operation, and coordination of all aspects of the Cheerleading program
  • Supervise and organize practice sessions, game-day coaching operations, scheduling, and team travel
  • Maintain proper and appropriate discipline among students during athletic contests, practice sessions, and while on trips off campus
  • Actively recruit prospective students of the highest quality in order to contribute to the program’s success
  • Engage in team fundraising activities and alumni engagement events
  • Take advantage of professional development opportunities for personal and professional growth, as well as further success of the Cheerleading Program
  • Attend campus, conference, regional, and national meetings as necessary
  • Comply with policies established by federal and state laws, Marian University, Crossroads Athletic Conference, and the NAIA policies and procedures
