About The Position

Assists in managing all aspects of a building’s occupancy and maintenance. This role involves meeting with prospective tenants, explaining occupancy terms, and processing rental applications. The position also handles rent collection, delinquency management, and ensures compliance with anti-discrimination and municipal housing laws. A key responsibility is maintaining property quality and cleanliness through daily walks and unit readiness checks. The Assistant Community Manager will also collaborate with the property management team on advertising and tenant relations.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years of property management experience - Required
  • Must have excellent computer skills as well as proficiency in the following software programs: Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Detail oriented and highly organized
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Skilled in time management and the ability to prioritize tasks
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Property Management software: Yardi - Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assists in managing all aspects of a building’s occupancy and maintenance.
  • Meets with prospective tenants to show properties, conduct interviews, receive rental applications and explain terms of occupancy.
  • Produces and distributes appropriate notices for non-payment of rent timely and within regulations of the City of Montebello municipal code.
  • Conducts apartment inspections upon move out to complete the statement of deposit within the state set timelines.
  • Places advertising that has been approved by the Manager, online or in print, when directed by supervisor.
  • Build relationships with tenants, vendors, and team members, ensuring satisfaction and success.
  • Collaborates with property management team to produce advertising materials to attract new tenants
  • Processes applications and conducts credit checks.
  • Communicates professionally with tenants regarding property-related issues.
  • Collects, processes, and maintains records of rent payments and rental activity.
  • Delinquency management, including auditing ledgers and entering memos.
  • Complies with anti-discrimination laws with regard to housing, renting and advertising.
  • Walks property and ready units daily to ensure quality and cleanliness.
