Performs a variety of assignments in support of prosecutorial legal services; provides prosecutorial legal services on selected cases; does related work as required. Provides research and preparation in support of major criminal cases; represents the Commonwealth of Virginia in some civil and all criminal cases; e.g. OSHA cases, traffic cases, all misdemeanor cases and some felony cases. Under close supervision, prosecutes traffic, misdemeanor, and selected felony cases in the General District Court, Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court and the Circuit Court. These duties include research, witness interviews, and presentation of cases at trial. Tact and discretion are required as well as establishing and maintaining effective relationships with other judicial and law enforcement agencies. Maintaining accurate files, documenting in writing all actions and providing sufficient justification to support recommendations are also required.
