This role involves coaching individual participants in the skills necessary for excellent achievement in wrestling. The Assistant Coach will follow the system of play as affirmed by the Head Coach, plan and schedule regular practice sessions in concert with the Head Coach and Activities Director, and work closely with the Head Coach on scheduling and finance matters. Responsibilities include supervising athletes in the dressing room, during practice, and during travel to and from away games. The coach will maintain necessary attendance forms and insurance records, promote good sportsmanship, ethical conduct, and academic achievement, and oversee the safety conditions of the facility. The position requires adherence to established performance criteria for eligibility, enforcement of discipline and sportsmanlike behavior, and recommendation for equipment purchases. The coach is responsible for the care of equipment and physical properties of the sport, submitting inventories, and ensuring athlete turn-out forms are signed before issuing equipment. They will also secure the home facility if custodians are unavailable, exclude athletes from practice or games if truant or absent without excuse, and submit various reports to the Activities Director, including rosters, award winners, transfer students, season scores, and team rosters prior to excusing students from school. The coach will provide the manager with a list of duties and attend all required organizational meetings.
