Assistant Coach - Women's Rowing
About The Position
Assist the Head Coach in the recruitment, counseling, conditioning, training and coaching of a varsity team. This role involves adhering to all NCAA, Mid-American Conference and Eastern Michigan University policies, rules, regulations, and operational procedures. The Assistant Coach will help organize and direct all activities of the varsity sport, recruit prospective athletes, and coach team members individually and in groups, demonstrating techniques. They will also counsel and advise student athletes on personal or academic issues, make position assignments, identify areas needing improvement, and assist with the development of contest strategy. The Assistant Coach will serve as Head Coach in their absence and assist with summer camps and fund-raising activities, performing other related departmental duties as required.
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree is required.
- Knowledge of sport rules, conference rules, appropriate training techniques, and winning play/contest strategies, for assigned sport.
Nice To Haves
- Three years’ previous college coaching experience within the sport is desirable.
- Experience in counseling and advising student athletes is desirable.
Responsibilities

- Report to one broad area of specific responsibility, as assigned.
- Make position assignments and determine areas needing improvements.
- Assist with development of contest strategy.
- Serve as Head Coach in his/her absence.
- Assist with summer camps and fund-raising activities.
- Perform related departmental duties as required.
