About The Position

Palm Beach Atlantic University (PBA) is seeking an Assistant Coach to assist with the coordination of all aspects of their dynamic collegiate Women’s Lacrosse program. This includes recruiting academically, athletically, and mission-fit student-athletes, advising student-athletes to ensure progress toward degree completion and eligibility standards, teaching and coaching during practices and competitions, assisting with scheduling management, and contributing to individual and team development. This is a full-time, 10-month position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Certification in First Aid and CPR required.
  • 3+ years’ experience in collegiate sports, required.
  • Ability to operate a PBA vehicle, equipment, or transport groups of students, including operating a van, car, golf cart, utility vehicle.
  • Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
  • Ability to work non-routine hours regularly during the academic year.
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to traverse campus and stairs.
  • Ability to lift/move objects up to 25 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the mission of Sailfish Athletics to be a premier Christian program competing at the highest level while preparing students to be lifelong leaders and outstanding citizens in their communities.
  • Assists the Head Coach in the coordination of a competitive Division II program.
  • Supports the head coach with identifying, evaluating, and recruiting prospective student-athletes who maintain the standards of the university and department.
  • In partnership with the Head Coach, assists with instructing, teaching and coaching during practice and competition.
  • Assists with scheduling practices, games, transportation/accommodations, and travel itineraries for road games with the approval of the Athletic Director and in coordination with the Head Coach and the Assistant to the Athletic Director.
  • Mentors student-athletes in their personal and spiritual growth, encouraging a balance of academic, athletic, and faith development.
  • Fosters a team culture of self-discipline, respect, and teamwork, while encouraging each student-athlete to thrive in their university experience.
  • Assists with a wide variety of administrative tasks as assigned by the Head Coach.
  • Represents the University at SSC and national meetings as assigned.
  • Attends mandatory compliance and departmental meetings as scheduled.
  • Partners with the Head Coach to ensure the academic success of the team, maintaining NCAA and SSC academic standards.
  • Adheres to all National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), Sunshine State Conference (SSC) and University rules and regulations.
  • Adheres to all budgetary guidelines, as well as University, Sunshine State Conference (SSC) and NCAA rules and regulations.
