About The Position

This position serves as an Administrative Officer, assisting the Head Coach in leading and managing the Women's Basketball program. The goal is to achieve successful outcomes, including recruiting elite student-athletes, training, and coaching to contend for national and conference championships. The Assistant or Associate Head Coach title may be assigned based on experience and available coaching staff positions. This role is not suitable for remote work and requires regular on-site hours, with national and international travel expected. The position is designated as an Administrative Officer and serves at the pleasure of the President.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Successful experience as an assistant or head coach at an elite level.
  • Experience coaching NCAA championship-caliber student-athletes.
  • Ability to collaborate with staff and provide critical thinking and consultation to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Professional demeanor.
  • Ability to project the image of the University of Texas and the Athletics Department with dignity and grace regardless of circumstances and environments.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills to enhance interaction with student-athletes, peers, alumni, administrative personnel, and the community.
  • Class "C" operator's driver's license.
  • Provide a current three-year driving record from the current state of residence.
  • Obtain a Texas driver's license within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident (if not currently a Texas resident).

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head Coach in recruiting, training, motivating, and developing elite student-athletes in women's basketball.
  • Proactively promote the academic, personal, and social development of student-athletes.
  • Recruit and coach with the objective of attaining the highest possible outcomes in NCAA competition while maintaining program integrity.
  • Employ high professional standards, ethical behaviors, and adherence to UT Athletics, University, Conference, and NCAA rules.
  • Provide high-profile and positive public relations and communication with a wide variety of institutional and sport constituencies, including women’s basketball professionals and coaches at all levels, alumni, letter winners, media, students, student families, fans, and Texas Athletics colleagues.
  • Assist the Head Coach in the design of a competitive schedule to maximize team and individual player development and performance.
  • Assist the Head Coach in leading and managing administration, logistics, support staff, and business functions, including budgeting of the Women's Basketball program.
  • Provide input on scheduling and team travel logistics.
  • Assist with camp administration.
  • Serve as a liaison and collaborate with athletics, camps partners, and key stakeholders to deliver a holistic, well-supported student-athlete experience.
  • Participate in public appearances and serve as an outstanding role model to student athletes and as a representative of Texas Athletics and the University.
  • May represent the Head Coach at meetings, fund-raising functions, and alumni events.
  • Drive a UT or rental vehicle on and off campus.
  • Consistently exemplify the core values and quality service standards of Texas Athletics.
  • Act ethically and proactively seek guidance when unsure or unclear of a law, rule, or policy.
  • Actively participate in assigned education and training programs.
  • Comply with all laws, policies, rules, and regulations set forth by the Board of Regents of The University of Texas System, The University of Texas at Austin, NCAA, Conference, or other governing body, including state and federal laws.
  • Annually obtain prior written approval and report all outside activities and outside income.
  • Report knowledge of, or reasonable cause to believe, violation(s) of state or federal laws, policies, rules, or regulations to IA ARMCS or IA HR.
  • Fully cooperate with any investigation by providing complete and accurate information when requested and do not influence others in any way during an investigation.
  • Report incidents of prohibited conduct to the University’s Title IX Coordinator or Deputy Title IX Coordinator as required by applicable law or University policy.
  • Other duties as assigned.
