About The Position

Position Overview: Muhlenberg College, a Division III institution and a member of the Centennial Conference is seeking applications for a full-time Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach. Responsibilities include assisting the head coach in all phases of the program within the college, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum two years related professional experience, or a combination of professional and athletic experience leading to a similar qualification required.
  • Demonstrated understanding of, and commitment to, the Division III philosophy of athletics and adherence to NCAA regulations regarding operation of athletic programs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to pass Muhlenberg College driving test. Including driving vans when necessary.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and engage with a varied audience, including but not limited to students, parents, College employees, alumni, and community relations.
  • Daily, in-person, office hours are expected.
  • Ability to travel and adapt to varying schedules, including evening and weekend hours, in accordance with the needs of the team.

Responsibilities

  • Coaching & Creating a Positive Student-Athlete Experience
  • Under the general direction of the head coach, provide leadership and support to all facets of the program in advancing the mission of the College and Athletics department.
  • Assist in administering a competitive NCAA Division III program in accordance with college, NCAA, and Centennial Conference policies.
  • Coach, motivate, counsel, and support student-athletes in realizing their potential for personal growth and development as students, athletes, and members of the Muhlenberg campus community.
  • Assist head coach in developing and delivering practices, training sessions, team meetings, and contests.
  • Assist in film analysis with individual and team including practice film, game film, and opponent scouting reports.
  • Community & Alumni Engagement
  • Under the direction of the head coach, promote strong parent, alumni, and community relations.
  • Actively participate in fundraising activities in support of the College and Muhlenberg Athletics.
  • Student-Athlete Recruiting & Retention
  • Establish and meet annual recruitment goals, working with the head coach and Assistant Director of Athletics for Recruitment and Retention to ensure long term recruiting goals are being achieved.
  • Maintain recruiting software, monitor the various recruiting services, and analyze national recruiting trends and research/review each area to support recruiting goals.
  • Oversee on-campus recruiting, including correspondence and meeting with recruits.
  • Participate in off-campus recruiting, including showcases and camps on a year-round basis.
  • Professional Development
  • In collaboration with the Head Coach, develop an annual professional development plan that will ensure awareness of trends, best practices, new information, etc. related to athletics, recreation, student development, and leadership .
  • Assume a secondary assignment commensurate with abilities, interests and departmental needs. Including but not limited to game management duties.
