About The Position

The Assistant Coach supports the Women's Basketball program by performing coaching, player development, recruiting, and operational duties in accordance with institutional policies, conference regulations, and NCAA rules. This position contributes to the development and supervision of student-athletes, assists with practice and competition preparation, and supports the overall operations of the program. The role requires the ability to work collaboratively within the Athletics Department while maintaining professionalism, confidentiality, and compliance with university standards.

Requirements

• Understanding of NCAA rules and compliance requirements
• Familiarity with the logistics and management of a basketball program
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and schedules efficiently
• Strong verbal and written communication abilities to interact with coaches, players, and other stakeholders
• Ability to address and resolve issues that arise in a dynamic environment
• Ensuring all aspects of operations are handled meticulously
• Leading and coordinating efforts among staff and players
• Adjusting to changing circumstances and needs of the program
• Experience in administrative roles, especially within a sports program
• Collegiate Playing Experience
• Previous experience in coaching or sports operations, particularly in basketball
• Bachelor’s Degree or Relevant Experience

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and conducting practices, skill development sessions, and team workouts
• Provide instruction in individual and team fundamentals, offensive and defensive systems, and game preparation
• Support the development of student-athletes on and off the court
• Help maintain a positive team culture
• Identify, evaluate, and recruit prospective student-athletes
• Maintain communication with prospects, families, coaches, and agents
• Assist in coordinating campus visits
• Maintain recruiting databases and documentation needed for compliance with NCAA regulations
• Assist in opponent scouting and film breakdown
• Prepare scouting reports and contribute to game planning
• Support post-game performance evaluation
• Support daily program operations as needed
• Maintain organization and accountability in assigned program areas
• Model program values and professionalism
• Build relationships with student-athletes and staff
