About The Position

Marian University, Plymouth, IN seeks a qualified applicant for a part-time position for an Assistant Coach for Track/Cross Country. This non-benefit eligible position will be required to work evening and weekends throughout the year. Reporting to the Head Coach, the Assistant Coach will help provide leadership, management, and strategic planning for the program. Primary responsibilities will include assisting the head coach in practices and games. The position requires active engagement with the Catholic Franciscan mission and identity of Marian University, modeling Franciscan Sponsorship Values and honoring the legacy of the founding congregation through transformative education, unity in diversity, leadership through service, integrating faith and life, and institutional policies. The role also involves ensuring compliance with NJCAA recruiting rules and regulations, supervising and organizing practices and games, maintaining discipline among students, attending necessary meetings, acting in the absence of the head coach, and complying with all relevant policies.

Requirements

  • Preferred bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • Prior coaching experience (high school, college, and/or studio/club)
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
  • Must display excellent customer and staff relation skills
  • Knowledge of and a commitment to the mission of Marian University
  • Work hours necessary to perform job requirements satisfactorily on a regular basis.
  • Manage absence from work in responsible manner to ensure service to clients, work teams, and coworkers.
  • Comply with Marian University policies and practices and seeking clarification of them when necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Actively engage the Catholic Franciscan mission and identity of Marian University by modeling the Franciscan Sponsorship Values and honoring the legacy of the founding congregation through transformative education, unity in diversity, leadership through service, integrating faith and life, and institutional policies.
  • Ensure compliance with NJCAA recruiting rules and regulations
  • Assist with the supervision and organization of practices and games while complying with relevant NJCAA rules and regulations.
  • Maintain proper and appropriate discipline among students during athletic contests, practices and while on trips off campus
  • Attend campus, conference, and national meetings as necessary
  • Acts in the absence of the head coach
  • Comply with policies established by federal and state laws, Marian University, Conference, and NJCAA policies and procedures
  • Promote the philosophy and values of the Athletic Program and Marian University’s Ancilla College
  • Other responsibilities as assigned
