About The Position

The University of Wisconsin’s Cross Country/Track & Field Program is a combined men’s and women’s program. Under the direct supervision of the Program Director, the primary responsibility of this position is to assist in coaching student-athletes across track & field disciplines in accordance with NCAA, Big Ten, and University regulations.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three (3) years of successful coaching experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Ability to foster team competitive success while maintaining a strong emphasis on the personal development and academic achievement of student-athletes
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills to effectively work with student-athletes, coaches, and administrators
  • Knowledge of and experience with NCAA and Big Ten rules
  • Successful applicants are responsible for ensuring their eligibility to work in the United States (i.e. a citizen or national of the United States, a lawful permanent resident, a foreign national authorized to work in the United States without need of employer sponsorship) on or before the effective date of appointment.

  • Preferably at the Division I collegiate level

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with coaching student-athletes for the track and field / cross country program as assigned by the Director of Track & Field and Cross Country
  • Planning and leading practice sessions for assigned event groups
  • Developing and implementing event-specific training and conditioning plans
  • Supporting the development of student-athlete skills to maximize performance
  • Assisting with recruiting prospective student-athletes across track & field disciplines
  • Working directly with the program specialist for team travel arrangements including: Hotels, transportation, bus travel, van rental, per diem, and entry fees
  • Collaborating with the in-house travel agent for team air travel
  • Procuring travel advancements and reconciling travel expense reimbursements
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Track & Field and Cross Country
