About The Position

The University of Tampa Athletic Department is seeking a strategic and collaborative Part-Time Assistant Swim Coach. This position is central to our commitment to excellence and operates in strict alignment with University, Sunshine State Conference, and NCAA regulations. The ideal candidate will possess sound professional judgment and the agility to thrive both independently and as part of a dynamic, team-oriented environment. Under the direct supervision of the Head Coach and Athletic Director, the Assistant Swim Coach will execute key responsibilities across athletic instruction and comprehensive program administration. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in cultivating a collaborative, respectful team culture that actively champions diversity, equity, and inclusion. This is a 10-month appointment with the potential for annual renewal based on performance and departmental alignment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum of two years of collegiate coaching experience, or two or more years of leadership experience as a senior club or high school coach.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of NCAA Division II rules and regulatory frameworks.
  • Current certification in First Aid, CPR, and AED, or the capacity to obtain certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Demonstrated capability to teach, refine, and advance both foundational and elite-level swimming techniques.
  • Advanced written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Flexibility to travel and work non-traditional hours, including early mornings, evenings, and select holidays.
  • Proficiency in leveraging modern administrative software platforms and adopting innovative organizational practices.

Responsibilities

  • Execute and uphold the philosophy and institutional objectives of the University of Tampa, maintaining total compliance with departmental directives, the Sunshine State Conference, and NCAA bylaws.
  • Drive the strategic planning and operational organization of the competitive season, optimizing practice frameworks and meet execution.
  • Advance a high-caliber recruiting pipeline that operates in flawless compliance with University, Conference, and NCAA parameters.
  • Maintain a commanding and supportive presence at all designated practices, team functions, and athletic competitions.
  • Serve as a key departmental liaison to cultivate, build, and preserve strategic relationships with program alumni.
  • Provide vital mentorship and structured guidance to student-athletes, ensuring accountability across academic, disciplinary, and personal domains.
  • Champion a collaborative, dignified workplace and team culture that actively respects, values, and engages diverse cultures and perspectives.
