About The Position

The University of Arkansas Rich Mountain’s main campus in Mena is situated on a pristine 40-acre campus at the foot of Arkansas’ second highest peak, Rich Mountain, with satellite campuses located in Waldron and Mount Ida. Requirements

  • Knowledge of baseball fundamentals, rules, and strategies
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to teach, motivate, and mentor student-athletes
  • Leadership skills with the ability to work collaboratively with a coaching staff
  • Organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to maintain discipline and promote sportsmanship
  • Basic understanding of athlete conditioning and injury prevention
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment

Nice To Haves

  • Previous playing and/or coaching experience in baseball
  • CPR/First Aid certification
  • Bachelor’s degree, especially for school or collegiate programs

Responsibilities

  • Help design and implement daily practice sessions and drills
  • Support skill development in hitting, fielding, pitching, and base running
  • Provide one-on-one and group instruction to enhance individual performance
  • Evaluate athletes’ strengths and areas for improvement
  • Monitor player progress throughout the season
  • Assist in scouting opponents and analyzing game strategies
  • Help organize lineups, defensive positioning, and in-game adjustments
  • Support decision-making during games
  • Maintain team rules, sportsmanship, and academic expectations (if applicable)
  • Supervise athletes during practices, games, and travel
  • Promote a respectful and team-oriented culture
  • Help with scheduling practices, games, and team events
  • Assist in equipment inventory, maintenance, and setup
  • Support communication with players, parents, and school/organization staff
  • Assist in identifying and evaluating potential players
  • Support recruitment events, camps, or outreach programs
  • Ensure compliance with safety guidelines and procedures
  • Monitor player conditioning and injury prevention efforts
  • Respond appropriately to injuries or emergencies
