About The Position

The Assistant Coach instructs athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training to support individual and team success. The role also helps students develop moral values, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline, sportsmanship, and service to others. The Assistant Coach works within school and conference policies, collaborates with school staff and community representatives, and supports the safety and effective operation of the athletic program.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree.
CPR certification.
Previous successful coaching experience.
Ability to organize and supervise all levels of a sport program.
Commitment to professional growth.
Ability to accept responsibilities outside the team as they relate to the school and community.
Ability to handle a multitude of varying and complex issues.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

Comply with school and MIAA policies and regulations.
Comply with school and Conference/League policies and regulations.
Work cooperatively with school staff and relate positively to parents and other community representatives.
Complete required records and reports promptly and accurately.
Take responsibility for the care of equipment and facilities and for maintaining a safe environment for student athletes.
Model positive behavior, particularly in relation to sportsmanship and alcohol, tobacco, and drug rules.
Delegate staff assignments to assistant coaches.
Develop and organize the practice program.
Evaluate assistant coaches and playing personnel.
Plan and develop game responsibilities.
Conduct and analyze scouting reports.
Assist student athletes in college advancement.
Maintain and inventory equipment and supplies.
Serve as liaison between the athletic program and staff, administration, the general public, and local news media.
Perform other job-related duties as needed.
