About The Position

The Assistant Coach, Men’s & Women’s Beach Volleyball is responsible for assisting in all aspects of coaching a highly competitive NCAA Women’s Beach Volleyball team and Men’s Club Beach Volleyball team. This includes recruiting student athletes, monitoring student-athlete academic performance, coordinating practices, pre- and post-game meetings, team strength and conditioning activities, team travel, meal arrangements, and promoting events and activities within athletics and the institution.

Requirements

  • Experience in coaching beach volleyball at a competitive level.
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Ability to recruit student-athletes.
  • Skills in monitoring academic performance.
  • Proficiency in coordinating practices and game-day activities.
  • Experience with team strength and conditioning.
  • Ability to manage team travel and meal arrangements.
  • Skills in marketing and public relations for athletic programs.
  • Experience with equipment inventory and maintenance.
  • Budget preparation skills.
  • Ability to work with various university staff (sports information, public relations, student services, athletics).
  • Experience developing team policies and procedures.
  • Familiarity with Arms and Teamworks Hub software.
  • Experience in fundraising initiatives.
  • Willingness to participate in community service activities.
  • Ability to serve on committees.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience coaching both men's and women's beach volleyball.
  • Experience with men's club beach volleyball programs.
  • Supervision of student assistants.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in all aspects of competitive NCAA Women’s Beach Volleyball and Men’s Club Beach Volleyball programs.
  • Work with the head coach and paid/volunteer assistant coaches.
  • Assist in the leadership for the team; establish coaching strategies and teaching methods to develop student-athletes’ skills and teamwork; analyze team performance and adjust strategies as needed.
  • Help implement and maintain a quality recruiting program that serves the coaching staff of Stevenson University.
  • Help coach both teams including recruitment and supervision of student assistants; scheduling, counseling, equipment inventory, office work, budget preparation, working with sports information staff, public relations staff, student services personnel, and athletics staff to ensure quality programs.
  • Travel with both teams and work nights, weekends, and holidays, as necessary.
  • Help develop team policies and procedures for student-athletes and volunteer assistants.
  • Help develop strategies to foster athletic and academic progress of student-athletes.
  • Work within the Arms and Teamworks Hub software to track recruits, compliance, team, and recruit communications.
  • Perform marketing or public relations duties to promote the program.
  • Work with the Equipment Manager to help maintain and care for uniforms and equipment.
  • Work with Institutional Advancement to aid in team fundraising initiatives and to promote the Campaign for Mustang Athletics on an annual basis.
  • Promote and participate in community service activities to build the connection between our Serve on committees as assigned.
