About The Position

The part-time Assistant Men’s Soccer Coach is responsible to the Head Men’s Soccer Coach, having the primary responsibility of providing instruction, coaching expertise, and leadership to the student athletes of the intercollegiate Men’s Soccer program; assisting the head coach in the effective management and administration of all aspects relating to a positive and beneficial intercollegiate experience for student-athletes; and performing other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required.
Demonstrated experience in soccer at the collegiate level required.
Must have knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations, demonstrated knowledge of basic principles of coaching/team supervision, the ability to effectively coordinate recruiting activities, and the ability to maintain team discipline and instill proper ethical and moral standards.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the public.
Work in liaison with community groups to encourage and foster their participation in the athletic activities or events.
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general written materials, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations.
Ability to write reports and prepare and conduct verbal and visual presentation of materials.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from top management, public groups, and board of directors.
Strategic and analytical reasoning skills are necessary.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
While performing the duties of this job, the individual is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and talk or hear.
The individual must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Nice To Haves

2-3 years’ experience coaching soccer at the collegiate level preferred.
Master’s degree is preferred.

Responsibilities

Assists in coaching student-athletes, which includes evaluating their performance in both practice and competition, teaching fundamental techniques, and providing leadership and instruction, as directed by the Head Coach.
Teach sportsmanship and set an example of good moral and physical behavior for the student-athletes in your charge.
Assist the Head Men’s Soccer Coach as the goalkeeping coach for the program.
Provide the necessary environment for all goalkeepers to learn and develop.
Organize the weekly/monthly/yearly schedules for the delivery of specific goalkeeper coaching.
Plan, prepare, deliver, and evaluate coaching sessions in relation to the individual/ team training session.
Perform required administrative tasks to ensure that each goalkeeper’s progress is tracked, monitored, and evaluated constantly.
Contribute to discussions on team selection, tactics, strategy, load management/medical in a collaborative and positive way with coaches and support team.
Assist in implementing a successful recruiting strategy to attract outstanding student-athletes to attend Colorado Mesa University while remaining in full compliance with all NCAA and RMAC rules, as well as departmental and college policies and procedures.
Maintain standards of performance consistent with departmental academic and athletic expectations as reflected in the mission statement, goals, objectives, departmental guidelines, and performance appraisal procedures.
Coordinate and implement with the head coach and compliance officer eligibility requirements to ensure full compliance with governing rules and regulations, proper administration of financial aid for both prospective and enrolled student-athletes, facilities scheduling, and contest administration and game operations, as necessary.
Assist the head coach in the organization and supervision of all practices, group workouts, shooting and film sessions and contests.
Assist in the coordination and development of summer camps and clinics.
Engage in, coordinate, and help implement fund-raising activities for the program in conjunction with the head coach, athletic advancement, and its representatives.
Assist in the development and implementation of all aspects of pre-season, in-season, post-season and off-season conditioning for goalkeepers.
Communicate regularly and maintain a positive and constructive working relationship with support staff in sports information, student services, sports medicine, campus recreation, business office, facilities/operations, compliance, athletic advancement, marketing, and ticket office, to assist in implementation of an efficient and effective program and department.
Represent the college at professional meetings, alumni gatherings, campus activities, and civic affairs as requested by the head coach or athletic administrators.
Attend and participate in department and staff meetings as requested/required.
Encourage an effective outreach program with student-athletes that provide benefit to the on and off-campus community.
Maintain, as appropriate, effective relationships with parents, alumni, friends of the program, and others toward the positive image and promotion of the program.
Evening and weekend work is required.
