About The Position

The Athletics Department is dedicated to excellence in collegiate sports, building a modern model of intercollegiate athletics fostering integrity, innovation, and student-athlete success. The University of Arizona invites applications for the full-time position of Assistant Coach, Men’s Basketball. The position reports to the Head Coach, Men’s Basketball and acts within the rules and regulations of the University, Conference, and NCAA. This position requires the ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends, and travel for competition and recruiting.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in exercise and sports science, physiology, kinesiology, nutrition and fitness, physical education, business, marketing, sales, sports management, or related field.
  • One year of coaching or playing experience at the division I college level or higher.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with on-floor coaching duties.
  • Assist with day-to-day preparation of practice.
  • Responsible for underclassmen, recruiting lists, and transfer lists.
  • Organize recruiting strategies and help coordinate and target specific recruits.
  • Scouting and game preparation against opponents.
  • Coordinate film edits of student-athletes.
  • Contact with high school and junior college coaches on a consistent basis.
  • Secure all transcripts and schedules from all recruits and coordinate with the compliance office.
  • Respond to correspondence.
  • Assist with summer camps, individual and group instruction.
  • Interact with donors and supporters of the program.
  • Speak to civic and community groups.
  • Assist with weekly phone calls to Recruits.
  • Counsel and encourage student-athletes.
  • Work with C.A.T.S. Academics and assist with any academic needs of student-athletes.
  • Work closely with Compliance and stay abreast of all NCAA Rules and Regulations.
  • Monitor recruiting paperwork, rules education, phone logs, etc.
  • Assist with all official and unofficial recruiting visits.
  • Budget accountability.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
