About The Position
The Assistant Coach - JV Boys Basketball assists the head coach of the Boys Basketball program. The role involves coaching and instructing student athletes and performing other duties assigned by the head coach or Athletic Director to support the development of individuals and the team. The assistant coach helps plan and teach basketball rules, techniques, and skills; directs individual and group practice activities as assigned; and monitors student athletes during practices and competitions. The position is based at Heritage High School and reports to the Athletic Director.
Requirements
- Experience in basketball skills and techniques is essential.
- Must have completed or complete a mandatory coaches certification class under the Virginia High School League.
Nice To Haves
- Previous coaching experience is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assist the head coach with planning and teaching student athletes basketball rules, techniques, and skills.
- Assist and direct individual and group practice activities as assigned by the head coach.
- Monitor student athletes during practices and competitions.
