About The Position

Westminster University is seeking an Assistant Coach I for the men's soccer team. This is a part-time, non-benefited position that reports to the Head Coach for Men's Soccer. A key condition of employment is the requirement for on-campus housing, furnished by the University. The role involves assisting with coaching and managing the men's soccer program, including recruiting, retention, coaching practices and games, scouting, and film review. Additionally, the position includes responsibilities in student residential life, focusing on student welfare, on-call support, and emergency response. Westminster University is a member of the NCAA Division II and the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree
Demonstrated success in coaching and recruiting at the collegiate level
Up to one year of relevant work experience
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
Commitment to student success, both academically and athletically
Willingness to contribute to the broader campus community
On-campus residence is required. Employee must be available for on-call responsibilities as part of campus housing.
Requires travel throughout the year, including overnight.
Valid driver’s license and clean DMV record.
Ability to lift/move up to 25 pounds and perform physical activities such as stooping and kneeling.

Responsibilities

Assist the head coach with the recruitment and retention of qualified student-athletes.
Demonstrate general knowledge of intercollegiate athletics and experience in coaching men’s soccer.
Assist with coaching during practices, games, and camps.
Support scouting of opponents and review game film with the team.
Assist the head coach with administrative tasks as assigned, including travel arrangements, oversight of student-athlete academic progress, management of team equipment, fundraising activities, and coordination of community service.
Ensure compliance with institutional, conference, and NCAA regulations.
Maintain CPR, AED, and First Aid certification.
Uphold student-athlete welfare and development within the NCAA Division II philosophy.
Promote intercollegiate athletics as an integral part of the University learning environment.
Support the academic and personal success of student-athletes.
Perform all responsibilities with the highest ethical standards, consistent with the University’s mission and values, including diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Serve as a positive role model and abide by all Westminster University policies and procedures.
Actively intervene in and document disruptive situations and confront all Student Code of Conduct and Housing policy violations; Provide accurate written information about all community disruptions to Athletic or Residence Life staff.
Serve in an on-call rotation to maintain coach presence and visibility in the residence hall. On-call rotations may include University breaks and holidays.
Act as the liaison between Athletics, student athletes and Residence Life; Provide feedback regarding general climate of building and residents.
Attend training sessions and planning meetings coordinated by the Office of Residence Life.
Assist with student engagement programming that fosters belonging and personal growth.
