About The Position

This role involves assisting the Varsity Head Coach in maintaining program growth, consistency, and community for the high school girls' soccer team. The Assistant Coach will reinforce a Christ-centered, competitive culture of athletics and prepare and execute practice sessions. Responsibilities include assessing student-athlete skills, assigning positions, providing constructive feedback, and ensuring the safety and cleanliness of facilities. Effective communication with student-athletes, families, coaches, and administrators regarding schedules is crucial. The position also requires partnering with coaches of other sports to promote overall athletic program growth and maintaining an inventory of equipment and uniforms. This role is seasonal and requires adherence to the school's Statement of Faith and Christian Conduct.

Requirements

  • Must be a born-again Christian
  • Must be a credible Christian role model whose godly lifestyle and character demonstrate obedience to God and the Holy Bible
  • Must be able to support and comply with the school’s Statement of Faith and Christian Conduct
  • Must be a member of an evangelical, Bible-believing church
  • Must have sufficient health and physical endurance to be able to complete the assigned responsibilities
  • Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, parents, and students
  • Must have good verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Able to work well independently, manage time well, and handle multiple tasks
  • Ability to follow verbal and written directions
  • Ability to receive and implement constructive feedback
  • Ability to work efficiently and quickly under pressure
  • Has a positive attitude toward work ethic, learning and development

  • High School Diploma
  • Basic knowledge of rules and fundamentals for sport
  • Successful completion of NFHS “Fundamental of Coaching” and “First Aid, Health, & Safety for Coaches” courses
  • First Aid/CPR Certificate
  • TB clearance within the last four years
  • Criminal Justice Fingerprint clearance
  • Mandated Reporter Training Course
  • Sexual Harassment Training Course
  • Other trainings as assigned

Nice To Haves

  • Previous coaching experience at middle school or higher level preferred
  • Must possess effective coaching techniques and skills

Responsibilities

  • Reinforces a Christ-centered, competitive culture of athletics to coaches, faculty/staff, student-athletes, parents, and those outside of our school
  • Prepares and executes practice sessions for the team
  • Assesses student-athlete’s skills and assigns team positions; chooses team members

  • Evaluates and maintains cleanliness and safety of practice and game facilities
  • Effectively communicates schedules and schedule changes to student-athletes, families, coaches, and administrators
  • Works with, and directly under the supervision of the Varsity Head Coach to maintain program growth, consistency, and community
  • Partners with coaches of other sports to ensure the growth of all sport programs within the department
  • Maintains inventory of equipment and uniforms
