About The Position

Under general supervision of the Head Coach, Athletic Director, and Principal, the Assistant Coach for Girls Soccer is responsible for carrying out the aims and objectives of the sport program. This includes instructing athletes in individual and team fundamentals, strategy, and physical training to achieve individual and team success. The role requires a thorough knowledge of athletic policies and district, state, and regional regulations, ensuring consistent implementation. The assistant coach must understand and adhere to the proper administrative line of command, referring student and parent requests or grievances through the appropriate channels. They are also responsible for maintaining discipline and fostering morale and cooperation within the school sports program and the wider school community.

Requirements

  • Current, valid Arizona Level One IVP fingerprint clearance card, issued by the Arizona DPS
  • Valid Arizona driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Ability and willingness to drive a small van to transport students to athletic events
  • Coaching and/or playing experience in assigned sport
  • Knowledge and background in assigned sport
  • Professional development activities in pedagogy and methodology of the assigned sport
  • Must be CPR certified prior to second full season

Responsibilities

  • Supervises athletes and the assigned team, assuming control over all athletes in the program when necessary.
  • Carries out the aims and objectives of the sport program as outlined by the head coach and school administration.
  • Instructs athletes in individual and team fundamentals, strategy, and physical training.
  • Assists the head coach in scheduling and providing transportation to tournaments and special sport events.
  • Assists in preparation for scheduled sport events or practices and adheres to scheduled facility times.
  • Coordinates the program with maintenance and school employees.
  • Provides the athletic director with necessary documentation for physical examinations, parental consent, and eligibility.
  • Is accountable for all equipment, collects costs for lost or unreturned items, and arranges for issuing, marking, and storing equipment.
  • Submits an annual inventory and current records of equipment.
  • Coordinates all equipment processing with the equipment manager.
  • Monitors locker rooms, equipment room, training room, and coaches' offices, authorizing entry.
  • Secures all doors, lights, windows, and locks before leaving the building.
  • Coordinates with custodial staff on duty.
  • Instills in players a respect for equipment and school property, its care, and proper use.
