About The Position

This position involves providing training, discipline, and coaching to student-athletes to build a competitive softball program. The Assistant Coach will also serve as a mentor, supporting student-athletes' academic, physical, and social development. Responsibilities include monitoring academic progress, assisting the Head Coach with organizational tasks, promoting the team and athletics within the community, maintaining the softball facility, and performing additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Coaching and /or playing experience
  • Ability to work significant evening, night, and weekend hours with travel.
  • LA Driver's License to drive university vehicles for recruiting purposes

Responsibilities

  • Providing appropriate training, discipline, and coaching for student-athletes that leads to a highly competitive softball program.
  • Serving as a mentor to student-athletes helping them develop academically, physically, and socially.
  • Monitoring student-athletes in their academic performance to ensure timely progress towards degree completion and graduation.
  • Assist Head Coach with organization of practices, recruitment, and team travel.
  • Working with the University and local community to help promote and publicize the team and LSUE Athletics.
  • Attending departmental staff meetings and special events of both the Athletic Department and the University.
  • Maintaining the softball facility.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Athletics and Head Softball Coach.
