Serves as a varsity assistant coach within the Department of Athletics and Recreation. Receives direction from the head coach on what aspects of the management and direction of the program this position will assist in. Assists in planning and coaching practice sessions and games as directed by the head coach; teaches advanced-level skills and game strategies. May be involved in other sport specific responsibilities including but not limited to specialized skills training, documenting and maintaining records, and analyzing data and reporting findings. Counsels students on general and sport-related matters. Assist the head coach in scouting opponents to help prepare, plan, conduct, and evaluate practice sessions as required. Assist the head coach, as needed, in the recruitment of student athletes including but not limited to contacting high/prep school coaches to identify prospective recruits, planning recruiting trips with the head coach, attending off-campus games to evaluate athletes, and preparing and distributing recruiting information. May review and cut film, share that film with the Head Coach and athletes, and make recommendations based on film review. Complete institutional and NCAA trainings as assigned (e.g., Clery Act, NCAA Sexual Violence and Prevention, etc.). Assumes additional responsibilities as required.
