About The Position

JOB SUMMARY: Reporting to the Club Director the Assistant Club Director (ACD) will assist the Club Director in directing and managing overall daily operations for their assigned unit. The primary focus of the ACD is to provide support to the club director in supervising and training staff and helping oversee behavior management for club youth. The Assistant Club Director will help Youth Development Professionals plan, implement, facilitate, and supervise activities and events in specific program areas. Interface with volunteers assigned to specific programs to ensure proper application. Promote safety of members, quality of programs and appearance of the Club at all times.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 18 years of age; High School diploma or GED required;
  • Minimum of 2 year experience working directly with school aged youth and knowledge of youth development.
  • Knowledge of program planning/instruction, experience in implementation and assessment; provide instruction, direction, coaching and guidance.
  • Demonstrate interpersonal skills to effectively interact and communicate with youth, parents, staff, volunteers and community partners while displaying tact, maturity and flexibility.
  • Direct supervisory skills to effectively assist Club Director to lead, motivate, and manage staff in a dynamic working environment; recruit, and onboard staff; conduct performance evaluations and mediate conflicts.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with youth, parents, staff, volunteers and community partners while displaying tact, maturity and flexibility.
  • Experience in tutoring and mentoring children or youth; motivate, engage, and manage behavioral challenges with peer mediation.
  • Work ethic to be responsible, accountable, provide follow up, complete tasks, and meet deadlines in a professional manner with accuracy and on schedule.
  • Must have the ability to be active and on your feet for a minimum of five hours each day, adapt to changes in a highly energetic work environment, complete other essential functions of the position and other duties as assigned.
  • Aptitude to motivate youth and manage behavior problems. Respond according to procedures for emergency, safety and disciplinary situations.
  • Proficient computer skills – Microsoft Office, email, internet research, social media navigation.
  • Must complete any school district requirements

Responsibilities

  • Create an environment at the Club that facilitates the achievement of Youth Development Outcomes; promote and stimulate program participation.
  • Provide positive behavior guidance that supports the developmental, social-emotional, and physical needs of all members. Provides guidance and role modeling to club members.
  • Assist Club Director to plan, develop, implement and evaluate overall programs, services and activities to ensure they meet stated objectives alongside club member needs and interests
  • Effectively plan, lead, monitor and evaluate a variety of programs, services and activities to ensure safety of members, quality of programs, gender and cultural diversity.
  • Responsible for daily set-up and clean-up of all materials used during the program.
  • Supervise members in program area. Position yourself in program area to continually monitor and supervise the safety and behavior of members. Focus on maintaining a safe, positive atmosphere for all youth.
  • Assists Club Director to resolve program compliant issues, exercise authority in problems relating to club members, as well as adhere to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Mid Central Coast (BGCMCC) Behavior Management Policy.
  • Maintain accurate program attendance records, progress in curriculum, and any member conduct or other issues and submits them in a timely manner. Prepare periodic activity reports and/or grant reports.
  • Cultivate positive relationships with members, their parents and/or guardians, supervisor, staff, and volunteers by communicating effectively.
  • Ensure equipment is in good condition, with safety precautions posted (where needed) and members are instructed in proper and safe use of equipment.
  • Perform daily duties that ensure the Club space is properly maintained, organized, clean and safe.
  • Assess facility needs and perform janitorial/maintenance duties, i.e., mopping, cleaning tables, trash removal, changing light bulbs, hanging posters, painting, moving equipment, etc.
  • Attend and participate in Staff Trainings, which is essential to professional development.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Promote excellent leadership qualities and lead by example by ensuring on-going communication with Club Director and Youth Development Professionals.
  • Assists Club Director in communicating job expectations and holding staff accountable.
  • Assists Club Director in anticipating potential personnel issues and documenting them appropriately to resolve problematic situations using tact, diplomacy and strict confidentiality.
