BOB-Assistant Civil Engineer
About The Position
The Assistant Civil Engineer will work on bridge capital design and/or construction projects within the Roadway Bridges group. This role involves performing work of moderate difficulty and responsibility, including supervising a small team engaged in activities related to design, construction oversight, inspection, materials testing, or drafting. The position also entails engaging in research, investigations, or studies related to engineering functions and activities, developing drawings, writing specifications, and preparing estimates. Responsibilities include participating in inspections, verifying compliance of plans with applicable laws and standards, providing status and progress reports, reviewing consultant and contractor invoices, and commenting on technical submissions.
Requirements
- Serving permanently in the title of Assistant Civil Engineer, or be reachable on the Open-Competitive List for Exam# 7006.
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in civil engineering and one year of full-time satisfactory experience in civil engineering work.
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and a Master's degree from an accredited college in civil engineering.
Nice To Haves
- At least one to three years of Bridge-related experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
Responsibilities
- Supervise a small team engaged in activities related to design, construction oversight, inspection, materials testing, or drafting.

- Develop drawings, write specifications and prepare estimates.
- Participate in inspections.
- Verify that all construction, demolition, or alteration plans comply with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Provide status and progress reports for assigned projects.
- Review invoices for Consultants and Contractors.
- Review and comment on technical submissions pertaining to the design effort.
