About The Position

This is the entry-level attorney position within the City of Dallas, utilizing established legal procedures and precedents to perform a variety of professional legal functions. The role involves working under supervision to handle legal matters, with a specialization in trial, prosecution, criminal law, or other legal areas. Work is reviewed by senior attorneys. The Municipal Prosecution Section of the Dallas City Attorney’s Office is seeking an energetic, self-motivated attorney licensed to practice in Texas and in good standing with the Texas Bar to fill a full-time position. This section is responsible for the criminal prosecution of Class C misdemeanors and violations of municipal ordinances in the Dallas Municipal Court, which includes traffic violations, assault, disorderly conduct, public intoxication, and theft. Additionally, the section represents the City of Dallas in civil proceedings such as administrative adjudications, dangerous dog appeals, parking appeals, stormwater proceedings, and bond forfeitures.

Requirements

  • Licensed to practice law in the State of Texas.
  • In good standing with the Texas Bar.
  • At least one year of experience practicing law in Texas.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Collaborative, problem-solving mindset.

Responsibilities
