About The Position

This is a professional legal position responsible for providing legal advice and representation to the City of Buckeye. The Assistant City Attorney I will perform a variety of legal tasks, including research, drafting legal documents, and representing the City in administrative hearings and court proceedings. This role requires a strong understanding of municipal law and a commitment to public service.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the State Bar of Arizona and in good standing.
  • One (1) year of experience in municipal law, public law, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of legal research methods and principles.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with municipal finance and land use law.
  • Familiarity with City of Buckeye's governmental structure and operations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice and counsel to City officials and departments.
  • Draft and review ordinances, resolutions, contracts, and other legal documents.
  • Represent the City in administrative hearings, negotiations, and litigation.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare legal opinions.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of City policies and procedures.
  • Stay current on changes in laws and regulations affecting municipal government.
