About The Position

Riley Crossing is a senior living/child care community in Chanhassen, MN, offering intergenerational programming with senior residents. The Assistant Teacher, under the supervision of the Teacher, is responsible for the care and supervision of children in their assigned age group (infant, toddler, preschool, or school-age). This role involves leading, planning, and organizing childcare program activities to ensure high-quality care, with a primary focus on toddlers and floating between classrooms.

Requirements

  • Child Development or Assistant Teacher qualified under Minnesota Rule 9503.0033
  • less than 1 year experience
  • Current Pediatric CPR American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within 90 Days

Responsibilities

  • Research and development of curriculum relevant to your classroom age group.
  • Provide weekly plans to both the Director and the parents of the childcare program.
  • Ensures implementation of age-appropriate curriculum to nurture and stimulate the psychosocial, cognitive and cultural needs of the children in their care.
  • Responsible to report any concerns to the teacher or director regarding staff or classroom issues.
  • Assists in keeping necessary attendance records, up-to-date emergency forms, curriculum plans, individual child development profile and other records as needed.
  • Assist in communicating with parents on child development issues, policies or other concerns related to their child.
  • Responsible for securing health, hygiene, safety and overall well-being of children at all times.
  • Assist in conducting parent-teacher conferences twice per year.
  • Assists in completing assessments of children on an on-going basis.
  • Maintains confidentiality of records and information of staff and families.
  • Strict compliance with universal precautions in the classroom or/and when administering first aid.
  • Directly supervise classroom aides and volunteers. Report all needed information to the classroom Teacher or the center’s Director.
  • Report daily needs and activities to the Teacher.
  • Assist in maintaining attendance and daily meal count.
  • Assist in maintaining daily program schedule.
  • Supervises health and safety needs of every child.
  • Assists in conducting classroom and parent meetings.
  • Keeps classroom neat and orderly.
