About The Position

Riley Crossing is a senior living/child care community in Chanhassen, MN, featuring an on-site intergenerational childcare center with interactive programming with senior residents. Under the supervision of the Teacher, the Assistant Teacher is responsible for the care and supervision of children in their assigned age group (infant, toddler, preschool, or school-age). The role involves leading, planning, and organizing childcare program activities to ensure the highest quality of care.

Requirements

  • Child Development or Assistant Teacher qualified under Minnesota Rule 9503.0033
  • Less than 1 year of experience
  • Current Pediatric CPR American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross certification within 90 Days

Nice To Haves

  • Associate of Arts degree
  • Bachelor of Science degree
  • Two years teaching in a childcare center or early childhood program

Responsibilities

  • Research and development of curriculum relevant to the classroom age group.
  • Provide weekly plans to both the Director and the parents of the childcare program.
  • Ensure implementation of age-appropriate curriculum to nurture and stimulate the psychosocial, cognitive, and cultural needs of the children.
  • Report any concerns to the teacher or director regarding staff or classroom issues.
  • Assist in keeping necessary attendance records, up-to-date emergency forms, curriculum plans, individual child development profiles, and other records as needed.
  • Assist in communicating with parents on child development issues, policies, or other concerns related to their child.
  • Responsible for securing health, hygiene, safety, and overall well-being of children at all times.
  • Assist in conducting parent-teacher conferences twice per year.
  • Assist in completing assessments of children on an ongoing basis.
  • Maintain confidentiality of records and information of staff and families.
  • Strict compliance with universal precautions in the classroom or when administering first aid.
  • Directly supervise classroom aides and volunteers. Report all needed information to the classroom Teacher or the center’s Director.
  • Report daily needs and activities to the Teacher.
  • Assist in maintaining attendance and daily meal count.
  • Assist in maintaining daily program schedule.
  • Supervise health and safety needs of every child.
  • Assist in conducting classroom and parent meetings.
  • Keep classroom neat and orderly.
