About The Position

Sandy Lane Hotel, an AAA Five Diamond, Forbes Five Star exclusive resort and a member of Leading Hotels of the World, is seeking to recruit an Assistant Chief of Security for our Security Department. The Assistant Chief of Security reports to the Chief of Security and assists in directing and coordinating all security, safety, and health operations of the hotel to ensure the protection of guests, employees, contractors, and assets in compliance with luxury hospitality standards and the Barbados Safety and Health at Work Act, Cap. 356.

Requirements

  • Diploma or Degree in Security Management, Occupational Safety & Health, Criminal Justice, or Hospitality Management.
  • Minimum 5–7 years security experience, including 2–3 years supervisory experience, preferably within a luxury hotel or resort.
  • Good computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Word.
  • Good analytical and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced and challenging work environment.
  • Excellent work ethics and Grooming Standards.
  • Physical ability to respond to Emergency Situations.
  • A current Security License issued by the Government of Barbados.
  • This position requires a high level of accountability.
  • The successful candidate must be a team player, in good physical condition and be able to perform extensive walking, bending and stretching.

  • Certification in First Aid & CPR, Fire Safety and Occupational Safety & Health (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Assist in managing all property security operations including patrols, access control, surveillance monitoring, and incident response.
  • Supervise deployment and performance of Security Officers to ensure continuous protection of guests and employees.
  • Maintain a secure environment while preserving the discreet and service-oriented atmosphere expected within a five-star luxury hotel.
  • Enforce hotel policies, emergency procedures, and statutory safety requirements.
  • Assist management with maintaining a workplace that is safe and without risks to health, including guest areas, back-of-house operations, and external grounds.
  • Participate in conducting and reviewing workplace risk assessments as required before implementing equipment or operational changes.
  • Recommend corrective and preventative actions to eliminate or minimize hazards.
  • Assist with ensuring employees receive adequate safety information, instruction, training, and supervision as required by law.
  • Respond to and investigate workplace accidents, injuries, unsafe acts, and near misses.
  • Prepare incident investigation reports and corrective action recommendations.
  • Assist with administering the hotel’s Fire Life Safety Programme.
  • Coordinate fire drills, evacuation exercises, and emergency simulations.
