Position Summary: To assist the Chief Engineer in the operation of the engineering department. Assume full responsibility for the department in the absence of the Chief Engineer.

Requirements

• Minimum of two years of college or equivalent in mechanical, electrical and technical disciplines.
• Four years training in HVAC, refrigeration and be certified as Universal.
• Minimum of two years hotel maintenance is preferred.
• A minimum three years of maintenance related work experience.
• Painting and wall covering experience is essential.
• Working knowledge of plumbing, electrical and carpentry a plus.
• Working knowledge of HVAC systems is a plus
• Qualified in HVAC and refrigeration maintenance.
• Working knowledge of electricity, plumbing, carpentry, and painting.
• Self-starting, even tempered personality with the ability to get along with others and function under pressure.
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Required to work flexible shifts, weekends and holidays.
• Ability to satisfy guest needs.
• Must be able to meet standards of appearance.
• Must have reliable transportation to and from work.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Attendance as scheduled is required.
• Adhere to all Marriott and Meyer Jabara Hotel policies and procedures.
• Maintain all major equipment and systems in the Hotel.
• Administer all preventative maintenance programs.
• Assist the Chief Engineer in training all personnel.
• Ensure guest satisfaction to the best of your ability.
• Support the Quality Improvement Process.
• Follow and teach safe working practices.
• Be familiar with all the duties and responsibilities of the Chief Engineer.
• Maintain all major electrical and mechanical equipment, especially the HVAC and refrigeration units.
• Maintain the files and logs kept in the Engineering department.
• Assist the Chief Engineer in controlling inventory and expenditures.
• Effectively manage the Perfect Rooms Team program.
• Have a working knowledge of all Marriott and Meyer Jabara Hotel standard operating procedures.
• Coordinate with all department heads on support required from the engineering department.
• Actively participate in the Hotel Theme and Journey programs.
• Correct or report any potentially unsafe situation to the Chief Engineer.
• Always maintain a positive attitude towards guests and employees.
